The COLLAB Project

The COLLAB Project is a multi-sensory live performance project combining music with live painting available for corporate and team-building events, as well as for private functions, and educational projects.

Dates shown in this video are from past years and are not upcoming concert dates.

The project brings together the Cordelia Piano Trio and live painter Marius S. Binder, creating an experience that is part concert, part visual art. During the performance the audience members are invited to join Marius and paint alongside him, use the music and his painting as inspiration to create something uniquely their own. The goal is to help deepen the experience of listening to music, and also give way for visual expression during the concert. Listen to the music and paint what you hear!

About COLLAB

Basic Details

Location: We are able to travel and perform in any location as long as there is enough space for performers and tables for audience to paint.
Materials & Equipment: We provide canvases, paint, brushes and other painting tools as well as set up protective floor materials to make sure there is no damage done to the space. Provision of a piano will be negotiated for each concert.
Repertoire & Length: The performance will consist of many short but very contrasting pieces ranging from classical Haydn to modern Philip Glass to help ignite the audience’s imagination. The full performance takes around 50–60 mins, but can be slightly altered if needed.

Who We Are

Inspired by synesthetic traditions of artists like M. K. Čiurlionis, who united music and painting into a single artistic vision, COLLAB brings together musicians and a live painter to create a truly multi-sensory experience.

Marius S. Binder
Painter
Marius S. Binder is an Austrian painter who brings a vivid visual dimension to COLLAB performances. He creates paintings live during concerts, responding to the music in real time. In each performance a unique canvas is born directly from the sound in the room.
The Cordelia
Piano Trio
The Cordelia Piano Trio has performed at venues including the Musikverein in Vienna and the Czech Museum of Music in Prague, and are recipients of the Café Bauhaus Award from the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). The trio explores varied musical programmes, and enjoys artistic collaboration as well as bringing classical music to unconventional venues.
